Bag for work and school
Main Post:
I work a corporate job that requires me to take my 4lb 15.6 inch laptop around. I currently use a backpack which at its best looks childish and now at its worse looks shabby and childish.
I want a bag that would be stylish and durable and that could accommodate my large laptop and maybe a tablet, wallet, phones, chargers, and occasionally 3 notebooks.
I’m not looking for anything faux leather, not even the trim. $300 max for my budget if possible.
Top Comment: Two things: People ask about work bags practically every day on this sub, so if you search it you can probably find some suggestions. Before you buy a bag, I suggest you figure out if you want a tote style bag or a refined looking backpack. I have heavy load in my work bag, so even with a wide cross body strap the walk to the bus is brutal with a tote. Also I travel a lot for work. So I personally need a backpack. But if you only walk a short distance from your car to your office, a tote might work for you. I suggest putting the stuff you'd normally take to work in a canvas tote for a couple days, and see if you could really carry all that weight over your shoulder comfortably. If you can, there are so many cute options for leather work totes. And if not, there are leather backpacks that still look really nice and professional.
School bag for upper secondary school kids
Main Post:
Hey guys, I come from the era where outdoor backpacks, deuter, eastpak etc were cool backpacks while in secondary school.
Was wondering what do kids carry these days as I would like to get my nephews a Christmas present. Cheers !

Is “Bring the pink bag to school” an actual charity? I read it is a “commercially operated recycler”.

Spelling: schoolbag or school bag?

It can be written both ways, but one form or the other may be preferred or more common depending on where you are. The absence of schoolbag from a majority of online UK dictionaries suggests to me it might be less common there than in the US, where it's usually one word, and where we also usually write bookbag as one word.
There is no single authority on how a word should be spelled; it is left to academic and commercial dictionary publishers, and where multiple spellings of a word are commonly accepted (e.g. adviser and advisor, mustache and moustache) it is then left to each organization, publication, or individual writer to adopt a standard. Therefore, the "correct" spelling is going to depend on whichever dictionary or style guide you are directed to use, or if you aren't specifically given one, which dictionary and style guide you adopt for your writing..
They reasons as to why some compounds are open (e.g. ice cream), others closed (e.g. surfboard) or hyphenated (e.g. mother-in-law), and why some have shifted over the years (including relatively recent ones like cell phone to cellphone) are a complicated matter and yet another case where just learning or looking up the forms will be easier than trying to devise rules or any kind of logic.
Need Help Choosing a Quality Bag for School
Main Post:
Hey everyone,
This is my first time buying a pricier bag (at least for me!), and I’m not very familiar with different brands and models. I need a large, durable bag for school—one that can comfortably fit my laptop and handle daily use.
I found a Coach bag from the Coach Outlet at a really reasonable price, but I’m unsure if outlet items have the same quality as regular Coach bags. Unfortunately, the full-price Coach bags are out of my budget. I also found two Charles & Keith bags that I can afford, but I don’t know how they compare in terms of quality and longevity.
I know Coach has a strong reputation, but my main priority is getting a well-made, long-lasting bag that I can use every day. If you have experience with Coach Outlet vs. Charles & Keith, or if you have other recommendations in a similar price range (less than 300 Canadian dollars) I’d really appreciate your advice!
Top Comment: Coach outlet bags are still excellent quality.

New bag for college
Main Post:
Hello, I am looking to get a new Peak Design everyday backpack for using during college, hikes, and everyday use for doing photography around the city. I cannot decide on if I should get a 20L bag or if I should go with the 30L version? Also having trouble picking out a color between black, charcoal, and midnight blue? Thank you for your help and opinion!
Top Comment: Hey! I have the 20l bag that I use for a bunch of stuff like hiking and everyday use. For non-photography stuff, the 20l might be too small depending on how you configure the dividers and how much you carry. In the typical 3 row set up, there can be a lot of dead space between the folds and dividers especially if you're storing smaller items that are too big for the internal side pockets. Don't be afraid to experiment with the divider placement, or taking them all out if you want. If you're good at only taking what you need, the 20l is a good size. For hikes, I can carry a large sweatshirt, sun screen, and snacks with a decent amount of room left for a portable speaker or something. Large water bottle and umbrella store nicely on the outside water bottle pockets. If I need more room, I can use the external straps to attach my sweatshirt. For college, binders, folders, and textbooks can eat up a lot of the width. I'd recommend online textbooks, but If you're carrying a lot of physical books, you'll certainly feel the weight, and will have to find creative divider placements to still have room left over. Upgrade to the 30l if you find yourself needing to carry a lot for classes. As for color, that's all personal preference. I'm partial to the stealthy black, but for whatever reason, that color is not as eco-friendly to manufacture. Charcoal is a close second. Avoid getting sunscreen on the bag too, as that leaves a semi-permanent stain on the darker colors. That will drive you crazy. Hope this helps!

I 100% believe this video.

- Instigating the conflict
- Gets absolutely rekt by literally his own force
